desert landscapes

Every year since 1990 I have spent a week or two painting in the Negev desert or the Dead Sea area. The sheer dimensions and breathtaking beauty, and make one humble. Israel it is a dry desert with rocks and stones the color of the human body. This has inspired me to conceive of a series of watercolors where the nude is the landscape and vice versa. I have also seen that if one places a figure in the landscape, by transposing or collage, the figure can become a giant of mythical proportions and thus diminish the mountains to little rocks.
